Mulberry paper is widely used in crafting and is often referred to as rice paper for decoupage. While traditionally made from mulberry tree fibres, the term rice paper is commonly used by crafters to describe this type of thin, strong decorative paper.

At 38gsm, this sheet is slightly thicker than our standard 30gsm mulberry papers, giving it extra strength while still keeping the soft, flexible character that makes mulberry paper so easy to work with.

Because of its durability, this paper can also be a good choice if you want to print your own images, photographs or designs, or if you plan to personalise your craft projects.

Each sheet has two slightly different sides — one smoother side and one more textured side with visible fibres running through the paper, adding natural character and strength.

Mulberry paper is one of the most popular materials used in decoupage and decorative craft techniques. It is naturally semi-transparent, thin yet strong, and blends beautifully into painted or decorated surfaces.

Tips for Best Results

For the most natural finish, gently tear the paper instead of cutting with scissors. The soft feathered edges blend much better into the surface.

When applying to glass, brush glue onto both sides of the paper and place the pieces like a puzzle, slightly overlapping the torn edges for a seamless effect.

Mulberry paper works well with most decoupage glues, gel mediums and craft adhesives.
